NutroChem

Case Study nutrochem (1)

NutroChem is a chemical supplier and manufacturer producing both food grade and chemical grade products. Their operations span manufacturing, packing, warehousing, laboratory work, and a fleet of trucks and trailers that move product to and from customers.

Handling hazardous materials and food grade products in the same operation leaves no room for gaps in safety, quality, or traceability. Since April 2024, NutroChem has used AssetPool to bring every inspection, improvement, and non-conformance into one centralized platform, covering everything from the tank farm to the truck yard.

1. Opportunity for Improvement: Turning Observations into Action

One of the most valuable ways NutroChem uses AssetPool is to manage Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs). Every OFI is raised through a structured digital form that records who raised it, who it was raised for, and their departments, with a digital signature required for clear ownership.

2. Non-Conformance Reports: Flagging Anything That Needs Attention

NutroChem uses AssetPool to manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for anything that needs to be flagged, whether it’s an issue with a product, a site, or a process. NCRs are organized into Health & Safety, Person/Department, and Quality, and can be raised from customer complaints as well as internal findings.

3. PPE Tracked for Every Employee

NutroChem has taken a people-first approach to Personal Protective Equipment. Each manufacturing employee is set up in AssetPool, giving every person their own PPE history.

4. Fleet Movements and Daily Site Safety

NutroChem’s fleet operations are fully managed in AssetPool, with dedicated checklists for each truck type and load configuration. On site, every high-risk area has its own daily safety checklist, including the flammable warehouse, hazardous materials storage, tank farms and holding facility, powder room, 1000L packing area, manufacturing plant, pack line, laboratory, warehouses, drum wash bay, effluent plant, and waste areas. An End of Day checklist closes out each shift, and a weekly Health, Safety & Environmental inspection gives the SHEQ team a broader view of the site.

5. Equipment and Emergency Readiness

AssetPool also keeps NutroChem’s equipment inspected and ready for use. This includes forklifts, reach trucks, generators, scale verification, laptops and tablets, hand tools, height harnesses, chemical boxes and pumps, and spill kits, along with emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hoses, hydrants, smoke detector systems, and first aid boxes.

Key Benefits of AssetPool for NutroChem

  • Structured Improvement Process
OFIs are captured digitally with clear ownership, so good ideas and observations reach the right department.
  • Complete Non-Conformance Management
NCRs move from description through root cause, preventative action, and verification in one traceable record.
  • PPE Accountability for Every Employee
Each person has a full PPE history, from issue through inspection and replacement.
  • Full Visibility of Fleet and Flowbin Movements
Loading, off-loading, and flowbin tracking checklists cover every stage of product movement.
  • Daily Safety in High-Risk Areas
Flammable, hazardous, and food grade areas are checked every day with consistent digital checklists.
  • Digital Sign-Offs
Required signatures on key inspections strengthen accountability across the business.

What began as a way to digitize inspections has grown into NutroChem’s central platform for safety, quality, and continuous improvement. With OFIs, NCRs, PPE, fleet, and site safety all managed in AssetPool, NutroChem has a single, reliable system supporting both daily operations and long-term growth.
