DHL is one of the world's leading logistics and transportation companies, with a reputation for innovation and cutting-edge technology. DHL has embraced the use of our Smart Inspection Platform to complete their delivery vehicle inspections, a move that has revolutionized their operations in terms of vehicle safety and driver compliance.
DHL has been quick to adopt our technology, recognizing the many benefits it offers in terms of accuracy, speed, and cost-effectiveness. AssetPool allows DHL to conduct vehicle inspections in a fraction of the time it used to take, while also providing a level of detail and accuracy that was previously impossible.
DHL utilizes AssetPool as a fleet management/compliance tool. They inspect their delivery vehicles at the depots before and after they make their delivery runs. DHL has onboarded over 250 delivery vehicles in 12 countries including but not limited to South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Mauritius, Tanzania etc.
DHL signed up with AssetPool in 2020 – when they first started they used it in South Africa, after a year they had a successful test pilot then they rolled it out to the eastern side of Africa. In their next phase, they will be rolling it out to west side of Africa. The onboarding of DHL’s account was straight forward. The training was swift and in South Africa there are 8 delivery hubs. To get all users trained and their account set up took less than a month.
One of the key benefits of using digital inspection technology is the improved safety it provides for DHL's drivers and other road users. By conducting inspections using our smart software, DHL can identify potential safety issues before they become major problems, allowing them to take corrective action and prevent accidents. In addition, the detailed data provided by the software allows DHL to track and analyze safety trends over time, further improving their safety performance.
An example of how they use AssetPool is their “pre shift inspections” before the driver takes the vehicle – in some countries the driver does the inspection but in South Africa they have so many drivers that there is one user at each delivery centre to do the inspections. The most common checklist they use is 41 points in the checklist which takes them less than 3 minutes. They are inspecting such things as lights, safety material, fuel usage, gas card, license, license plate, cleanliness, branding, spare tire etc. A value add they have experienced is that inside the delivery hubs, they are inspecting their forklifts as well. In total they have completed 18,000 inspections with roughly 1,700 per month.
If a driver goes to work and he doesn’t inspect the truck then it is in involved in an accident – the company is liable. With AssetPool, they can prove they inspected the vehicles, they can show the driver was responsible. They have also been able to track speeding fines and unallocated fines with our software, they now know which vehicle it relates to.
Another major advantage of using AssetPool is the improved driver compliance it facilitates. By automating the inspection process, DHL can ensure that all vehicles are inspected regularly and that any issues are quickly addressed. This helps to ensure that DHL's drivers are always in compliance with safety regulations, reducing the risk of fines and other penalties.
Overall, DHL's use of AssetPool to complete their delivery vehicle inspections has been a resounding success. By embracing this technology, DHL has been able to improve vehicle safety, enhance driver compliance, and streamline their operations, all while saving time and money. As digital inspection technology continues to evolve, it is clear that DHL will remain at the forefront of this exciting and rapidly growing field.
